A number of good bills have been filed this legislative session that could help stop the proposed Vulcan quarry and impose common-sense restrictions on aggregate producers and concrete plants.

Vulcan is certainly not going to be the last operator to try to set up in central Comal County. While we are fighting this proposed quarry with everything we’ve got, the real, long-term solutions will need to come at the legislative level.

In a video recorded for our March 29 fundraising dinner and auction, Texas State Representative Kyle Biedermann (District 73) speaks about rock quarries and gravel mines, their negative impacts, TCEQ, and legislation that he has authored to resolve some of the related problems.

How You Can Help

Vulcan and their lobbyists are already hard at work convincing legislators to kill these good bills. It will take all hands on deck to get these passed into law. But don’t underestimate the power of phone calls and emails from individual citizens! First step: getting a committee hearing scheduled. Right now we’re asking you to make one phone call 📱 and send one email. 📧
