Check out our TCEQ Public Meeting Survival Guide for tips on preparing for the upcoming meeting.
- You will have only three minutes to speak.
- At the February 27 TCEQ public meeting, your comments must relate to air quality.
- Try to personalize your message and communicate how you, your family, and your property will be negatively impacted by air contamination.
- Feel free to discuss other impacts as long as you connect them to air quality. For example, increased truck traffic will create more air pollution; poor air quality will cause your property value to depreciate; your outdoor items will be constantly covered with dust; unique natural resources will be harmed; etc.
- Mention Vulcan’s poor track record of following air quality regulations.
- Request a public hearing.
- Practice and time your speech—three minutes goes by fast. Feel free to print/write your comments and simply read them at the meeting.
- You may bring and hand over any documents you wish to submit for the record. (They must be on 8 ½ x 11 paper.)
- Before the meeting submit the text of your speech/comments on TCEQ’s website (and upload any documents)—in case you aren’t able to speak for any reason.
- As soon as you arrive at the meeting, be sure to sign up to speak during the Formal Comment Period.
Thank you for joining the fight to protect our families and the Hill Country!
